Two candidates for separate judicial posts in Hamilton County have likely won their general election seats after the Tuesday primary.

Pam McNutt Fleenor won the Republican primary contest for the open Chancellor seat 11,297 with votes over opponent Joe Manuel who received 4,438.

"I had a lot of people who helped. I really appreciate everybody who voted," Fleenor said. "I am humbled and honored to serve Hamilton County and I will continue the service of the honorable Frank Brown."

Brown announced last year he would not seek re-election.

Fleenor began her law career in 1986 and worked in areas such as personal injury, civil rights violations, employment defense, breach of contract and complex commercial litigation.

Joining Fleenor on the bench will be J.B. Bennett in Circuit Court, Division 1, who took 11,383 votes over opponent Catherine Cate White, who garnered 4,735 votes.

"I'm very honored and humbled that so many people have supported me in this endeavor and worked so hard to support me," Bennett said.

Bennett has practiced law since 1993 with the firm Spears, Moore, Rebman and Williams. He's worked in areas of civil law.

Stuart James grabbed 4,690 votes as an unopposed Democrat in Circuit Court race but he dropped out of the race in March.

The Circuit Court seat opened when Judge Jacqueline Bolton announced she would not seek another term.

None of the Criminal Court, Chattanooga city judges or remaining Chancery or Circuit judge candidates faced primary opposition.

Republican Juvenile Court Judge Rob Philyaw will face Democratic primary winner Yolanda Mitchell in the Aug. 7 general election. Neither had primary competition.
