Motorcycle chase leads to charges
A man who fled from police in Hixson on his motorcycle Wednesday because he didn't have a motorcycle license or insurance is now facing seven charges after he crashed while trying to get away.
A Hamilton County sheriff's deputy tried to stop Daniel Shelby, 20, for not wearing a helmet shortly before 1 p.m. but Shelby did not stop and witnesses told police that the motorcyclist ran off the road into the woods along Hixson Pike.
Officers found Shelby and he was transported to Erlanger hospital. He told police he was just trying to get the motorcycle back to his house.
Shelby is charged with violating the motorcycle helmet law, driving without proper endorsement, violating the financial responsibility law, evading arrest, leaving the scene of an accident, unlawful removal of a registration plate and driving an unregistered vehicle.
Woman faces theft counts
A woman arrested Tuesday for possessing drug paraphernalia is also charged with theft over $500 and theft over $1,000 for her role in a pair of recent area incidents.
Sconda Teems, 27, is accused of trying to steal more than $300 worth of DVDs from the Walmart on Hixson Pike on April 21. In that incident she was stopped by a store employee, and dropped her purse containing the DVDs and ran to a car.
On Friday, May 2, Teems rode to a Dollar General store on Rossville Boulevard with a man who entered the store while Teems remained in the vehicle. When the man exited the store, he said the vehicle - and Teems - were gone.
Noise complaint leads to arrests
Red Bank police arrested two people on charges of disorderly conduct and public intoxication after responding to a noise complaint May 5 at 11 p.m.
When police arrived at 151 W. Ridgewood Ave., a duplex neighbored by other duplexes, they observed several individuals outside of the residence drinking and yelling loudly. While collecting information from those parties, police noticed a white male leave the scene running.
Police ordered the man to stop several times, but he ignored their orders and fled into nearby woods. Police located the man, Noah Harmon, 25, about a half-mile into the wooded area, and detained him, placing him in handcuffs. Harmon smelled strongly of alcohol, and began yelling loudly after being handcuffed, drawing the attention of neighbors, according to the police report.
While police were attempting to calm down Noah Harmon, a female who also smelled strongly of alcohol, 24-year-old Tabatha Harmon, began yelling at police. Police attempted to calm her down, but Tabatha Harmon refused and was placed into handcuffs. Both parties were taken to the police vehicle. The police ran the rest of the individuals present at the address for warrants, who reported remained calm during the check.
Noah Harmon is being charged with resisting arrest in addition to the public intoxication and disorderly conduct charges.
