Knox County driver charged in wreck that severed passenger's arm

KNOXVILLE - A Knox County man with an extensive criminal history, including multiple DUI convictions, has been identified as the driver in a single-vehicle crash that left his passenger with a severed arm.

Max Gordon Lowe, 54, of Knoxville is charged with driving on a revoked license and failure to maintain control of a vehicle following the Friday incident on Parkdale Road just south of Rifle Range Road in North Knoxville, according to Knoxville Police Department spokesman Darrell DeBusk.

Lowe was traveling north, behind the wheel of a 1999 Dodge pickup, when he allegedly lost control while taking a curve and sideswiped a telephone pole, an arrest report states.
