Rewards offered for leads in pawn shop gun theft

CORNELIA, Ga. - Federal agents and a trade group for the gun industry are offering $20,000 in rewards in hopes of solving the theft of firearms from a pawn shop in the northeast Georgia town of Cornelia.

The federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives said in a statement that the theft happened during the early morning hours on April 25 at Gene's Pawn Shop.

Federal agents say investigators believe the thieves used a stolen church van to smash through the front doors of the pawn shop.

The ATF is offering a reward up to $10,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible. The agency said that amount will be matched by the National Shooting Sports Foundation, for a total reward of up to $20,000.
