A woman's body has been found in Nickajack Lake in Marion County.
At around 8 a.m. CDT on Saturday, a fisherman found the body next to the bank near the old U.S. Highway 41 bridge, Marion County Sheriff Ronnie "Bo" Burnett.
The body has been sent to Nashville for an autopsy, and right now it is unknown if the death was accidental or if there was foul play, Burnett said.
The body has been identified, but the sheriff's office has agreed to give the immediate family more time to notify other family members before releasing the identity, he said.
The investigation is ongoing and is being conducted by the Marion County Sheriff's Office, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and the 12th Judicial District Attorney's Office.
