The Fireman

about Clay Bennett...

The son of a career army officer, Bennett led a nomadic life, attending ten different schools before graduating in 1980 from the University of North Alabama with degrees in Art and History. After brief stints as a staff artist at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and the Fayetteville (NC) Times, he went on to serve as the editorial cartoonist for the St. Petersburg Times (1981-1994) and The Christian Science Monitor (1997-2007), before joining the staff of the ...

Ever heard of Harry Reid.

Stupid propaganda. Gee let me guess, the House is bad because it's majority GOP, and the Senate is good because it's majority Dem.

That is until Nov. '14

z-ix, so if the GOP winds the senate, they can royally screw things up even more, as your idol said, "bring it on??? I'll bet there will be monthly votes to repeal ACA and as new investigstion of "Benghazi" every month.

On one hand I'm glad these guys are so one track-minded it keeps them busy on pointless futility and out of real government business, but on the other hand, it is profoundly un-American, but since when has these guys really cared about the rule of law.

I find it amazing a person who is clearly middle-of-the-road is branded an extremist leftist on these pages. Only in Tennessee, Alabama and Georgia I guess.

Well, perhaps you are right. But there are some reasonable persons in MS, it is hard to believe but that state has the highest percentage of home ownership the last time I saw the statistics. Those two states are more remote from the Church of God that seems to be the source of a lot of local fanaticism.

Did you mean to say all over the road like a drunk at a .25 B.A. level?

The bucket carried by the senate is full of nitro to burn money faster than gas. No one appears concerned that the debt level is soaring and can never be paid. No one appears concerned that the dollar is about to cease being the world currency or that some countries are now trading directly without using the dollar as the world currency.

Has even one politician alerted people to this real possibility? Has one of them explained how that will impact every American? Printing more dollars will be of no value once that happens. The IMF is advocating a new and different world currency.

HR 2847 effective 7/1/14 May be the catalyst for the dollar failure and a stock market free fall as foreign investors pull trillions out of American financial institutions. As usual congress passes a legislation which is slipped in as a rider on a bill they like. It is likely more people know less about this legislation than the number voting for the ACA without reading and understanding it.

Fairmon, you're passing on a very bad e-rumor.

FATCA is not going to collapse the dollar, nor will it affect Americans living within the borders of our nation.

It is a law designed to recover taxes from Americans living abroad, or from those who have money stashed off-shore.

Is that you? Is that why you are moaning and groaning about it?

Is the time near when you will have to pay the piper for your dabbling in International investments?

Is that why you are so worked up over the printing of money all the time? Because it weakens the dollar internationally?

Seems to me that you're allegiance is offshore of these borders. Maybe it's about time to pack your bags, renounce your citizenship and say goodbye to the good ole' US of A.

Maybe you will find your Utopian lifestyle in another nation.

Whatever you do, it would be nice if you would at least refrain from trying to scare people with your stupid, unfounded rumors about a collapsing dollar.

LMFAO!!!

You Google my surname, find a 21 year old in Midwest City, Oklahoma who has the same surname, who made the news, and you're positive he is my son?

You're Google skills are simply AMAZING!!!

Hhhmmmm, I've lived in Georgia for the past 39 years, been married to my current wife for 15 years, before that, I was quite single for 22 years.

I have two adult step-daughters, both of whom are in their early thirties. I have not sired a child since 1976, so unless you're just sh!t out-a-luck in even coming close to proving that Weston Provancher, 21, of Midwest City, Oklahoma is even related to me.

You however live within mere, measurable feet of the Son you deny publicly, who shares two parts of your name, but it's easy to understand why you do. I'd be ashamed too.

Better give up Grandpa...

You're going to wind up with egg on your face every time...

The man has no point. He's butt hurt because he can dish out insults to people, but he didn't count on someone being able to discover dirt on HIM to use to attempt to straighten out his negative behavior.

Now he thinks he can play a game of, "Well you found my child molesting son, so I'll find one related to you."

So he digs up a guy with my last name, located 800 miles away, and THAT guy must be my son. It's hysterical.

Jackie...YOUR son lives witrhin spitting distance of yourself. He even looks like you. He's lived in the same places you have.

Now...you can keep trying to stir the sh!tpot and continue to be embarrassed with your baggage, or you can quit typing in my direction and it all slips into the rear view mirror.

Find a new victim. I'm not interested in discussing anything with you, so you can type whatever makes you warm and fuzzy about anyone else or anything but me, or you can continue to be ambarrassed for throwing darts in my direction.

You leave me alone and it all goes away, unless someone else decides to bring it all up because you won't leave them alone.

It's just that simple. But you're the most hard-headed troll I have ever encountered. Blame no one but yourself for being a stupid ass wipe.

By the time you realize the dollar is losing value and is no longer the world's reserve currency it will be too late to protect your assets or purchasing power. Economist and financial people smarter than either of us agree with me on the potential unintended consequences of this short sighted knee jerk legislation. Do you have any idea how many trillions of foreign investments are subject to leaving this country?

You obviously did little research on this bill which is effective July 1st. Remind me to apologize and grovel if there is a positive impact from this legislation by the end of 2014 or at any point in time. I doubt anyone here is scared or has any idea how critical retaining credit ratings and reserve currency status is. I prefer to remain in America and benefit from the ignorance of predictable leaders. I do get pissed at those that could but won't provide for their own needs. The same for those that fail to make good health decisions then expect others to take care of them.

Love it that Bennett has his undies in a bunch! It means that the system works just as designed.

The founding fathers knew that not every lawmaker would be a Washington or a Jefferson. They knew that there would be a lot of Harry Reid's sprinkled in-men who put their lust for power and fortune above the good of the people. That's why they gifted us the system we have.It keeps a small minority of 51 senators and their crooked Boss Hogg in the WH from just wiping their feet on the country and that makes libs really, really mad.Delicious!

Thanks again,founding fathers!

Nope. You started it. You're going to finish it by backing off. I'm not going to discharge the incentive for you to stop acting like a stupid child by leveling insults all the time. The information I have related is correct and you know it.

You take me for a total dummy. For if I were to retract one word, you'd start it right back up again.

You ignore me. I'll do the same. That's it. That's your choice.

"BTW, since you found out where I really live, I haven't heard any more about the bankruptcy. Coincidence? I think not."

I made reference to your insolvency just yesterday. Look it up. You're still in the Eastern Tennessee District Court jurisdiction, are you not?

"Ball is in your court."

Nope. It's in yours and it always has been. You've gone too far to demand me to soothe your feathers and expect you to honor your word.

Move on to another target. That's your only choice.

Okay...Mr. Chicken Little.

"Economist and financial people smarter than either of us agree with me on the potential unintended consequences of this short sighted knee jerk legislation."

If that were so, then you'd be able to post links to credible sources that back up your assertions. As it is, that little rumor has been making it's way around the blogosphere, but is not supported by credible outlets.

"Do you have any idea how many trillions of foreign investments are subject to leaving this country?"

If they repatriate it elsewhere, it is subject to much higher taxation that it is here, so I doubt it is as big and issue as you claim it will be.

"You obviously did little research on this bill which is effective July 1st."

Sir, I went straight to the IRS for my information.

"Remind me to apologize and grovel if there is a positive impact from this legislation by the end of 2014 or at any point in time."

Lack of self-respect seems to be the only qualification for membership in the Liberal Leech Left wing of the Democratic party.

May 17, 2014 at 7:25 p.m.

What should there be, no debate, total agreement and just rubber stamp everything the POTUS wants? Just because someone is elected POTUS doesn't mean he has free reign to do as he pleases. BO is a pathetic narcissist who can't stand that we have a system of checks and balances. He thinks because he has a pen and phone we no longer have a use for Congress, or the Senate, for that matter. He quite simply is a dick, who hates it when everyone doesn't ask how high when he says to jump.

May 17, 2014 at 8:14 p.m.

He's a complete and utter fraud. He came in like the second coming, emboldened by the kiss ass media, pretended to be an outsider, pretended to be a lefty "reformer", but has turned out to be a slave to the military industrial complex, a corporate slave/clown, an embarrassing kiss up to hollywood and completely lawless.

Thanks goodness we have a system of checks and balances.

The IRS is your credible source? The IRS just regurgitates the law and tries to interpret it. Go to the Thomas library or just Google HR2847 and select the most liberal interpretation.

You know this is like other future events we don't agree on. It is another we shall see so there is no way to debate what may or may not be. Forget I warned you and hope it was as you say a false alarm. I will make plans otherwise and I won't share the gains with you!

Fairmon wrote: "alprova...I am talking about selling their U.S. investments and investing elsewhere."

Why would they do that? The IRS does not tax foreign investors, especially if they keep the money in US banks, unless they spend more than 183 days per year inside the United States.

"There is no higher tax rate on businesses in the world than in the U.S. but I am talking about other investments such as in banks."

That Sir is false. There are only THREE nations with lower taxes than the United States. They are Mexico, Turkey, and Chile.

"The IRS is your credible source? The IRS just regurgitates the law and tries to interpret it. Go to the Thomas library or just Google HR2847 and select the most liberal interpretation."

Sir, if you cannot consider the IRS to be a credible source to understand the ramifications of a tax law enforced by the IRS, then there is little hope for you.

"You know this is like other future events we don't agree on. It is another we shall see so there is no way to debate what may or may not be."

From Snopes - "...no credible source that isn't an investment firm trying to scare potential customers into forking over money for a newsletter subscription is seriously maintaining that a law passed four years ago will, within the next few months, collapse the entire U.S. economic system, destroy the American way of life, and lead to the imposition of martial law."

http://www.snopes.com/politics/conspiracy/hr2847.asp#mFrGoJJ2hQ4Hk2ci.99

From truthorfiction.com - "This e-Rumor appears to be an unproven conspiracy theory that warned of the possible ramifications of the passage of the Hire Incentives to Restore Employment Act along with the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act."

"Forget I warned you and hope it was as you say a false alarm. I will make plans otherwise and I won't share the gains with you!"
