Infant left in car leads to charges
Police responded to 1208 Point Center Drive on May 15 at about 2:45 p.m. on a call about an infant abandoned in a car with a window cracked and all doors unlocked.
A witness told police that the car had been there since 2 p.m. At 3:30 p.m. police went into the University of Phoenix to locate the mother, Melissa Nicole Greene, 29.
According to the police report, Greene told police she's on medication for schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and post traumatic stress disorder that stems from being abused in the past. According to the report, she displayed no concern about the child and only seemed worried that she'd be arrested. Greene refused to cooperate with police commands and had to be "taken to the ground" to be handcuffed.
Child Protective Services responded to the scene to take custody of the child, and Greene was taken to the Hamilton County Jail on charges of child neglect and resisting arrest.
Hixson man violates probation
Raymond Phillips, 23, who pleaded guilty to sexual battery in December, has been found to have violated three requirements of his probation, including using intoxicants, using the Internet and not paying his supervision fees, according to a probation violation report.
According to the report, Phillips has admitted to using marijuana during the course of his probation, and during a routine home visit on April 30 "a strong odor of marijuana was present." During an inspection of the home, it was also determined that he had access to the Internet through a shared computer. The computer's Internet search history was checked and indicated searches related to prescription narcotics and inquiries into "the best method to smoke roxy's."
During a further inspection of the home, a Frisbee containing marijuana was found on top of a child's crib, as well as some marijuana and paraphernalia on the kitchen table. Phillips was told to report to the probation office for a drug screen.
Phillips admitted he would test positive for marijuana, but said he hadn't used any other drugs. However, the drug test indicated positive results for marijuana and Oxycodone.
According to the report, Phillips hasn't found a job, has not begun sex offender treatment and has not made any of his supervision payments.
Phillips is scheduled to appear before Criminal Court Judge Barry Steelman on May 30.
