Huntsville customers to pay for power bill errors

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - Huntsville's city-owned electric utility says customers will pay $8 to $15 more for this month to make up for a billing error in April.

Al.com reports the adjustments will show up on the May bills for about 130,000 Huntsville Utilities customers. Spokesman Joe Gehrdes said Monday the utility incorrectly figured a fuel surcharge by TVA into its April bills. He said the error resulted in customers paying less than they should owed.

Customers' May bills will include a message explaining the mistake. Gehrdes said the utility plans to take steps to ensure the same billing error doesn't happen again.
