SNOHOMISH, Wash. - A retired Snohomish High School teacher has left nearly $1 million to be split among four hospitals.
Friends tell The Daily Herald newspaper of Everett that 84-year-old Carrol Walker wanted to find a worthy cause to leave his money to. He first thought he'd leave it to Seattle Children's Hospital, then added Valley General Hospital in Monroe after his father was hospitalized there. Providence Regional Medical Center in Everett made the list after Walker had heart surgery there.
The last one included in Walker's will is St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.
Walker, who was a single, taught physics, trigonometry and algebra over his 32-year career. Friends say he had money from a family inheritance.
