Bottoms Up

about Clay Bennett...

The son of a career army officer, Bennett led a nomadic life, attending ten different schools before graduating in 1980 from the University of North Alabama with degrees in Art and History. After brief stints as a staff artist at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and the Fayetteville (NC) Times, he went on to serve as the editorial cartoonist for the St. Petersburg Times (1981-1994) and The Christian Science Monitor (1997-2007), before joining the staff of the ...

I get it.

The Tea Party has nothing to offer for minorities and Liberals.

That is because some people in this nation still recognize that it is wrong to take money from one person and give it to others.

Ridiculing global warming is much more fun, let's get back to that.

True, Jack. If they're of no consequence, then why keep bringing them up. If both parties fear them, then it can't be a bad thing. The GOP, with folks like Carl Rove, are doing everything they can to trash them, and the Democrats with Harry Reid are constantly attacking them. Got to hold on to power and money no matter what.

The worst part of it all is that Obama, with his corporatist-friendly, milque toast response to the greed of the elite; is sitting in the undrawn fourth chair - off the panel, waiting to drink the dregs that are left by the fatcat who will share with him then go to attend a ten thousand bucks a plate fundraiser and speak of him as the devil incarnate.

Barry's silver tongue brought the throngs of hopeful poor and middle class workers to the polls. Too many people who were driven into low-wage jobs with no prospect for advancement believed his siren song while the elite who stuffed their offshore bank accounts with cash sipped champagne. The vast majority are STILL, in some cases, not willing to admit that the Democrats have abandoned them as well.

Every plant that closes, every world trade agreement penned, every useless war started that has no discernible purpose for national defense, every occupy movement crushed, every swatch of personal information captured by the American surveillance state, every person killed needlessly by a militarized police force, every abuse of the rank and file that can be attributed to the new paradigm of social inequality is a lit match approaching the fuse of national class warfare - and they all know it.

The appearance of a dozen flag-waving teabag idiots in DC answering the call for 30 million says it all. When the fascists and Republican pols were able to connive a defeat for the VW "works council" because it vaguely resembled a union and there were no strong words of support for it from local democrats - that also spoke volumes.

Welcome to Amerika. Keep your papers in order - the government already has a copy.

But, in the final analysis, it is only a vote for the Democratic party that will keep our country and the world from total disaster - there is no viable alternative to all-out American fascism for now. If the Republicans take the Senate and the presidency, there will be war in the streets in mere months. No need for flags and placards.

How so? A Tea Party candidate has no chance of winning the presidency (which is the Holy Grail for both parties). Tea Party members (which few actually exist in Congress) vote damn near always with the GOP's stance on issues. So other than the political race rally-cries, how is the Tea Party any different than the GOP? The Taxed Enough Already Party drifted more towards the GOP with less interest in being taxed and more towards religion, guns, and abortion.

Teabaggers came on the scene after President Obama was elected and for those haters who couldn't stand the idea of an African-American sitting in the Oval Office they offered the perfect screen for their hate. They could rant and rave about all the so-called "rights" they were losing without once having to be specific about just exactly what those "rights" were and how they had been lost.

The establishment Repubs were all too happy to accept the teabaggers because they saw them as a tool to use to get back the White House. Only problem was the fact most of the teabaggers who got elected in 2010 turned out to be nutjobs and by the time 2012 rolled around most in the country saw teabaggers as just that; Nutjobs. Unfortunately, for the Repubs they were reading the wrong polls. Karl Rove, the Koch Bros and all the rest were throwing away MILLIONS AND MILLIONS OF DOLLARS to get Mitt Romney elected but it all backfired on them.

Now the establishment Repubs want little to nothing to do with the teabaggers and so the teabaggers have started their own little war within the Republican Party but it won't do them any good because the establishment Repubs will NEVER allow them to dictate to them about which candidates are acceptable anymore. They already know there's not one teabagger out there who will be able to mount any REAL OPPOSITION to Hillary Clinton should she decide to run in 2016 (after Turdblossom Rove's attempt to claim Hillary is Brain-damaged, she probably will run.) consequently, they will once again be denied the White House.

About the only place teabaggers will have any success at all will continue to be in the South. Even that will eventually change with a more diverse population. So, let the teabaggers drink as much as they want. Two-thirds of the country is no longer drinking their tea. LOL

The same response the fundies give when confronted with evidence of evolution, real science, and history not involving the Bible —
"God Did It!"

Well then, if God did it put Jehovah on trial along with the earthly crooks carrying out His Holy Writ.

Jehovah got off on impregnating a young virgin, genocide, mass rape, slavery, and other crimes against humanity instigated by His followers.

Election fraud is small potatoes compared to His major crimes. Give Him and His disciples an orange jumpsuit picking up litter on the roadside.

May 20, 2014 at 4:44 p.m.

The Tea Party exists because millions of people are fed up with both major parties. Those of you who are slavishly loyal to either one need your heads examined. We live in a police state, and those that are supposed to uphold the law break it when it's politically convenient for them. Both parties are pretty much the same, look how they both are pandering to illegal aliens. Illegal aliens are are lawbreakers. If you think that's ok, and it doesn't speak to how pathetic both parties are, then you're wacked.

May 20, 2014 at 6:51 p.m.

The Tea Party began on fiscal policies that many agreed with.

But it was taken over by Jesus freaks, homophobes, racists, and idiots like Christine O’Donnell, Todd Akin, and Sharron Angle.

Now it's viewed as simply silly extreme Christian fundamentalist white people with a Bible in one hand and The Turner Diaries in the other. Add the senile Cliven Bundy, the fat-assed militias, the continued ignorance of science, and desire to return to the good old days that never existed and you have the current Tea Party.

The good thing is they continue to commit suicide every time they pull an obvious stunt like trying to remove a gay councilman because he's gay on the pretense of his fiscal policy.

So go back to your plantations and Jim Crow policies, Mike Huckabees and snake-handling for Jesus, demands that white God come down from imaginary heaven to go to school, that creationism be taught as science, and only white American faux-history be taught, and more of you will be publicly slitting your own throats.

Good riddance.

Yes, thinking people are disgusted with both the "default" corporate parties. The teabaggers cannot claim to be a viable "alternative" because, if forced to promote a platform, the organizing committee room would end up blood-spattered and full of bullet holes looking like an Iraqi hotel lobby.

The only organized, philosophically well founded option is one of the (sadly) several democratic socialist parties. If the Socialists ever overlook all the petty divisions that exist between their factions and coalesce into a political front, they could compete quite well with the corporatist democrats and the neo-fascist republicans. Their platforms are a dramatic reverberation of the deepest held sentiments of the American working class but their voice will never be heard as long as they are more into infighting than uniting. Their inner conflicts are music to the ears of the wonks in the "default" parties who win elections by tearing their opponents down rather than seeking to build the country up.

Dinesh D’Souza, Tea Party darling, evangelical Christian Catholic fundy, and creationist, today admitted to violating the law and will be sentenced to prison.

from Politico May 20, 2014.

“I knew that causing a campaign contribution to be made in the name of another was wrong and something the law forbids,” D’Souza said, according to Newsday. “I deeply regret my conduct.”

"In 2012, D’ Souza resigned from his post as president of evangelical King’s College in New York following reports that he attended a South Carolina conference on Christian values accompanied by Denise Joseph and introduced her as his fiancee despite the fact that he was still married at the time to another woman.

He later said in a statement he’d been separated from his wife for two years and “had no idea that it is considered wrong in Christian circles to be engaged prior to being divorced, even though in a state of separation and in divorce proceedings.”

Ain't no hypocrite like a Tea Party crazy Christian anti-science fundy.

However this does qualify him for a position in the Pentecostal Church and a TV ministry.

There's no word yet if D' Sousa will pull a Jimmy Swaggert crying jag or if Bennie Hinn will wave his hands and the prison will collapse. But Mike Huckabee is rumored to be so upset he's eaten John Hagee, part of west Arkansas, and is eyeing Memphis for dessert.
