Don Godby leads managed print services for XMC

Businesses can find themselves in a pickle when it comes to printer costs and maintenance. Don Godby's job at XMC Inc., Xerox Authorized Sales Agent, is to help businesses find a good solution and save money.

Under the title of "managing print services specialist," Godby relocated to the Chattanooga company from North Carolina and brings with him more than 30 years of experience in the industry.

"I cover East Tennessee and North Alabama, and we service small, medium and large companies in the local Chattanooga area," he said, describing his clients. "I am a professional consultant that helps area businesses reduce waste and save costs by accumulating all print devices onto a single, monthly, easy to understand bill."

By utilizing the purchasing power of Xerox, XMC's managed print services create a pricing package that encompasses all aspects of maintaining a printer. Toner, drums, fusers, maintenance kits and service are all included in what XMC has to offer clients.

"We can reduce costs by 15 to 30 percent," Godby said. "I offer a free assessment and will share your total network device inventory and spend, with no obligation."

Brands the group services include Dell, HP, Xerox and Lexmark, so there is something for every business, regardless of their printer choice. Also with the managed services, there's no longer the fear of not realizing you've run out of toner, or the issue of overstocking on parts and supplies you don't need right away.

"The program works through the install of monitoring software on a PC that is always on," Godby explained. "That software reports all of the printers, which we use to establish the list of cartridge types needed."

The printer monitoring software allows clients to view all printers on their network and all those printers' information, including model and serial numbers, IP addresses, toner levels, error messages, number of pages printed and more. The interface is easy to read and use, Godby noted.

Clients have the option to choose the "Plus Service" through which XMC monitors all printers at no cost for 30 days to determine if any of them need maintenance or repairs to be brought up to "workable condition" before beginning the program. After that, a contract is signed, devices are tagged and the program begins -- and XMC makes life a little easier for local businesses.

"There's no startup cost, which is key," said Godby. "Everything is included in the package, from supplies to software and shipping."

Xerox has the highest recognition among competitors according to Godby, with Xerox delivering secure and integrated office, production print, homeworkers, mobile and cloud print solutions.

He encourages clients to visit XMC's website or to call him at 423-463-8063 for more information.
