Soddy-Daisy man violates parole with attempted theft

A Soddy-Daisy man who pleaded guilty to promoting the manufacture of methamphetamines in August is charged with violating his probation after loss prevention workers at Walmart spotted him attempting to steal a pair of jeans and a set of headphones last month.

Jason Gamble, 40, will go before a judge to explain why his three-year prison sentence should be ordered into execution.

Gamble had a lengthy criminal history prior to his 2013 drug offenses, including theft charges. The total value of the items police found on him in the Walmart parking lot was $74.72.

Man charged in robbery attempt

A man is being held at the Hamilton County Jail on $20,000 bond after police say he tried unsuccessfully to rob another man Sunday evening at Coolidge Park.

Donovan Savoy, 19, is charged with attempted robbery after another man told police that Savoy punched him and slammed him to the ground in the parking lot while trying to take a bag valued at $100.

When a third party intervened, Savoy attempted to flee the area before he was stopped by police.
