A McMinn County man has been indicted in the March shooting death of his nephew in Niota, Tenn.
An indictment handed up Tuesday charged Marvin Derick Hayes, 35, with one count of voluntary manslaughter in the death of 22-year-old Brandon Lee Hayes, according to a news release from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.
The shooting took place March 9 at Marvin Hayes' home, and Brandon Hayes died later at the University of Tennessee Medical Center, the release stated.
Marvin Hayes turned himself in Wednesday at the McMinn County Jail where he was being held on $20,000 bond, the TBI release stated.
