The 11th annual Tennessee/Georgia All-Star Football Classic is set for Saturday, June 7, at 7 p.m. at Boyd-Buchanan School, with East Ridge coach Tracy Malone and LaFayette's Chad Fisher as the opposing head coaches. The game, presented this year by Physicians Care, pits just-graduated high school standouts from 14 southeastern Tennessee counties against counterparts from northwestern Georgia. "The players on these teams know about the Tennessee/Georgia All-Star Classic, and they want to be in the game," said series founder Marvin "Stump" Martin. "The week of practice and the game creates friendships and memories that will never be forgotten." Malone said Team Tennessee has "talented quarterbacks, a solid stable of running backs and an exciting group of wide receivers" plus a very strong offensive line and a defensive unit "with speed all over the field." Fisher said the Georgia team has a defensive line "loaded with top talent" and an "extremely athletic" set of skill-position players. "I believe we have put together a very athletic and competitive team," Fisher added. Tennessee leads the series 7-3, including a 10-7 win last year at McCallie.

It starts at 8 a.m., and on-site registration begins at 6:30. Packet pickup for pre-registered runners will be at the downtown YMCA from 3:50 to 5 p.m. Saturday.
