$50 million factory announced for Walker County

Walker County, Ga., landed a $50 million factory for its new industrial park.

Audia International, Inc., a Pennsylvania-based plastics-maker, will build a roughly 240,000-square-foot plant on 25 acres of the 463-acre industrial park the county established in January on U.S. Highway 27 and West Reed Road in the unincorporated community of Noble.

"If you know about plastics, you would know that they are a very major player in that world," county Economic Development Authority Executive Director Larry Brooks said.

The county worked for 1 1/2 years to land the factory, Brooks said, which it code-named "Project Eagle."

Walker County will give 25 acres to Audia as an incentive, Brooks said, and the company can expand to another 25 acres.

Walker County paid $4.23 million for the industrial park land.

Construction is expected to begin in late summer or early fall with the plant slated to begin operation in the third quarter of 2015, Brooks said.

The privately-held Audia International companies currently have 10 manufacturing locations and more than 1,000 employees in North America and Europe and are doing business in over 50 countries, across broad market platforms including automotive, appliance, construction, packaging and consumer.
