Auto parts manufacturer Plastic Omnium Auto Exteriors LLC will construct a new facility in Chattanooga with an investment of $65 million and create up to 300 jobs.

The company is to start production in 2015 at Enterprise South industrial park.

Marc Cornet, president of the Americas of Plastic Omnium, said the company will purchase about 27 acres at the industrial park where Volkswagen is located.

"Chattanooga is an ideal location for Plastic Omnium to serve the automotive industry in the Southeast," he said.

A tier one supplier for Volkswagen and other major auto manufacturers in the Southeast, Plastic Omnium hopes to further expand in Chattanooga in the future based on market demand.

Manufacturing operations at the new facility will include painting and assembly of automobile exterior components such as bumpers and fenders.
