A driver walked away uninjured after police say he crossed some railroad tracks, narrowly missed a southbound train, and was hit by a northbound train.

Investigators believe the driver was texting while driving, which contributed to the crash.

According to witness statements to authorities, shortly before 8:10 the driver of a silver Honda Accord was traveling eastbound on McFarland Avenue when he crossed the railroad tracks. The gates were down and the lights were activated as two trains approached, the news release stated.

The driver managed to miss the southbound train but was hit in the back quarter panel by the northbound train. His car was dragged a short distance, according to the release.
