An informal memorial event for Scott Crisp, a widely-known traditional Cherokee dancer, storyteller and historian of Cherokee lore and culture who died suddenly on Monday, is planned for 5 p.m. Saturday at Red Clay State Park in South Bradley County.

The event is being hosted by Ammons Rattler.

"He was a very true and dear friend to me as well as everyone he met," said Rattler, who added that he and Crisp drummed together often at pow-wows across the region.

Crisp, 45, died Monday afternoon from injuries suffered in an accidental electrocution near Etowah, Tenn., while working on a catering truck he often took to Native American events where he performed.
