BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - With Chris Beck allowing four hits and striking out six batters in seven innings, the Birmingham Barons beat the Chattanooga Lookouts 2-0 in Southern League baseball Tuesday night.
The Barons took a 1-0 lead in the fifth inning on a Keenyn Walker home run to left field and made it 2-0 in the sixth when Daniel Wagner hit a leadoff double to right and scored on Rangel Ravelo's single to left
Chattanooga dropped to 20-32 with 18 games left in the Southern League's first half.
Game three of the five-game series is tonight at 8:05 EDT. Chris Reed (3-3, 2.93 ERA) is scheduled to start on the mound for the Lookouts, with Myles Jaye (0-6, 6.32) scheduled for the Barons.
