Three wrestling Mocs nationally ranked - and more Chattanooga region sports news

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga has three wrestlers listed among the top 20 in the latest InterMat rankings. Corey Mock is No. 8 at 165 pounds, Nick Soto 12th at 133 and Sean Boyle 16th at 125. All three are seniors. The Mocs open the season Sunday at the Hokie Open. Their first home meet isn't until Dec. 12 against Purdue.

Basketball

• The Tennessee Wesleyan basketball teams both won Tuesday night at home in Athens, the Lady Bulldogs downing Brenau 68-52 and the Bulldogs beating Hiwassee 90-62. Jenna Adams and Armeka Booker had 17 points and two blocked shots apiece and Adams added nine rebounds for the TWC women (2-0). Devante Jenkins had 15 points and eight rebounds and Stephen Kite Jr. also scored 15 for the Bulldogs, who got 11 points from Wesley Richey and six assists and three steals from Dante Turnipseed.

• Cleveland State swept a basketball doubleheader against visiting Snead State on Tuesday, 63-55 in the women's game and 86-61 in the men's. Jamesha Mosley had 16 points and seven rebounds to lead the Lady Cougars (2-0), countering 19 points by Snead's Jasmine Richardson. Orlando Moore had 19 points and 11 rebounds for the Cougars (1-1), who had five double-figure scorers.

Volleyball

• Brooke Wilsman and Latrice Johnson had 10 kills apiece and Sadie Johnson and Haley Foote had 22 and 21 assists as Lee University defeated visiting Alabama-Huntsville 3-0 in Gulf South Conference volleyball Tuesday. Latrice Johnson also served three aces, Stephanie Hernandez had 23 digs and Lauren Williams, Catherine Conley and Patty Orozco added eight kills each in the 25-17, 25-19, 25-22 match for the Lady Flames (11-17, 8-10).

• Ginny Moore had 16 kills and 16 digs and her twin Schuyler Moore had eight kills, 13 assists and 14 digs in Covenant's 3-1 NCAA Division III volleyball win Tuesday against visiting Oglethorpe. The set scores were 19-25, 25-14, 25-18, 25-23. Cora Schroeder had 14 kills, Stephanie Kirkpatrick had 21 assists and Chloe Carlson had 13 digs for Covenant (25-9).
