CAVE SPRING, Ga. - Authorities in northwest Georgia say a double shooting and assault at a gas station may have stemmed from a child custody dispute.

Floyd County Police Maj. Tom Ewing tells the Rome News-Tribune a man and woman were hospitalized with gunshot wounds after a fight and shooting in Cave Spring. Details on the extent of their injuries weren't immediately available.

Ewing says another man who was involved in the fight was beaten with a bat and was also hospitalized.

Ewing says two people were taken to the Law Enforcement Center in Rome for questioning. It's unclear if any arrests have been made.
