Good deed: Hiker enjoys generosity of walking stick carver

Recently, on the Signal Mountain Cumberland Trail, I enjoyed God's wonderful gift of great weather, almost-perfect temperatures and the company of my two great friends David Harr and Jake Howell.

One of the significant things we noticed and enjoyed were two naturally cut and carved walking sticks that some generous soul had left at the trailhead for anyone to make use of. It was obvious that they did this for unselfish reasons. We discovered the sticks at the golf course entrance. I picked one up and used it as we ventured down the steep and rocky trail. Had I not, I am confident I would have stumbled on the hike.

So, our thanks to the person who put these sticks out for others to enjoy, expecting nothing in return except the spirit of generosity.
