Business News: Chattanooga-based CBL expands Fayette Mall

CBL & Associates Properties, Inc. on Monday opened 115,000 square feet of new retail space at the Fayette Mall in Lexington, Ky.

Designed to enhance the the former Sears location and add more stores, the mall has added The Cheesecake Factory, H&M, Eddie Bauer, Oakley, Clarks, Swarovski, Janie and Jack, Jos. A. Bank, Altar'd State, L'Occitane, Vera Bradley, and Zales. Michael Kors and Brighton Collectibles also opened new stores at the shopping center within the past month.

Additional stores and restaurants such as Pink, Island Purveyor featuring Tommy Bahama, New Balance, Newk's, Chipotle and Travinia Italian Kitchen are under construction and will soon be joining Fayette Mall in early 2015.

"The expansion of Fayette Mall allows us to further the tremendous growth of one of our most successful and productive centers as well as reinforce its dominant position in the market," CBL President Stephen Lebovitz said.


Bridgestone moves Nashville headquarters

Bridgestone Americas plans to move its corporate headquarters from near the Nashville airport to a new office tower that developer Highwoods Properties would build in Nashville next to the Encore condo tower, the Nashville Tennessean said Monday.

The tire maker is expected to receive an unspecified amount in incentives from Metro and the state. Highwoods, the Nashville area's largest office landlord, recently purchased the roughly 1-acre rectangular site from developer Tony Giarratana.

An announcement of the move is expected today.


First Bank boosts quarterly profits

One of Tennessee's biggest community banks, FirstBank, reported net income of $8.74 million for the quarter ended Sept. 30, up by more than 11 percent from a year ago. Year-to-date net income increased to $25.20 million, up 26.1 percent from the first three quarters of 2013.

"The growth plans we have in place are producing the results we had hoped for and we are on pace to have record annual earnings for the third year in a row," said FirstBank President and CEO Chris Holmes.

FirstBank operates two offices in Chattanooga.
