Business News: Staffing company coming to Chattanooga to help fill 300 jobs

A new employment staffing company is coming to Chattanooga, and it plans to start helping a manufacturer fill 300 jobs that were previously announced.

The staffing company wasn't immediately identified, but the jobs relate to Volkswagen supplier Plastic Omnium.

The company is building a $70 million factory at Enterprise South industrial park and it has captured work to build bumpers for the automaker's new sport utility vehicle.

Winning the SUV work, along with other business, will help smooth the way for Plastic Omnium to employ about 300 people, the company has said.

The staffing agency is to announce its plans for filling the jobs on Thursday at the Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce's offices.

Denso adds Nashville warehouse

To meet increasing sales in North America, global automotive supplier Denso will invest $6.7 million to build a 165,000-square-foot shipping warehouse in Nashville. The facility will add about 20 new jobs when it opens next April.

"This new warehouse enables us to expand our capabilities to satisfy our customers and also support continued sales growth," said Britt Autry, vice president of the North American Production Promotion Center at Denso Manufacturing Tennessee in Maryville.

Hellmann's sues over use of 'Mayo'

You have to break some eggs to make an omelet and, according to a lawsuit from the maker of Hellmann's, the same goes for mayonnaise.

The food company Unilever is suing a California company that uses the word "Mayo" in its sandwich spread name, saying that federal regulators and dictionaries define mayonnaise as a spread that contains eggs.

The suit claims false advertising by the company Hampton Creek for labeling its plant-based product "Just Mayo." Unilever says in a complaint filed in federal court that the word mayo implies that the product is mayonnaise, and Just Mayo is "stealing market share from Hellmann's."

Hampton Creek CEO Josh Tetrick said his company isn't trying to mislead consumers. It is focused on using plants to help make everyday food products better.
