Jews, Christians join for 'A Night To Honor Israel' - Nov. 13

Christians United for Israel, said to be the largest pro-Israel organization in the United States with more than 1.75 million members, will join with churches in North Georgia and Southeast Tennessee tonight, Nov. 13, for "A Night To Honor Israel" at the Colonnade in Ringgold, Ga.

Organizers with CUFI say the community event is designed to bring Jewish people and Christians together in solidarity and to show support and love by Christians for the people of Israel. Doors open at 6 p.m., and the program starts at 7.

Area dignitaries scheduled to participate include Michael Dzik, executive director of the Jewish Federation of Greater Chattanooga; Rabbi Bill Tepper from Chattanooga's Mizpah Congregation; and Georgia state Sen. Jeff Mullis, R-Chickamauga. The Office of the Consul General to Israel from the Southeast United States will send a representative to speak on the current situation in Israel.

Delivering the keynote address will be Pastor Lyndon Allen, regional coordinator of Christians United for Israel. His focus will be on the importance of maintaining a strong relationship between the United States and Israel.

Pastor Jimmy Hutto of First Baptist Church of Tunnel Hill, Ga., will serve as master of ceremonies.

Darrel Rose, pastor of Oak Grove Church of God in Ooltewah and the CUFI director for Chattanooga and Cleveland, will introduce the keynote speaker and music program.

Dr. Mark Bailey and the Lee University Symphonic Band will join singers from Lee University and several local churches to inspire the audience with Israeli music.

Pastor Bret Yaeger of Temple Baptist Church in Dalton, Ga., will close the event with a prayer for peace.

There is no cost to attend. A complimentary reception will follow the event.
