LIVINGSTON, Tenn. - Hixson's football season ended in heartbreaking fashion Friday night, as Livingston Academy squeaked by in overtime, 21-20, in their Class 4A second-round playoff matchup.

With the win, Livingston Academy avenged a September loss to Hixson, its only loss of the season. Hixson's season ended with a record of 9-3.

Hixson was led by James Cole's 143 rushing yards, as well as 83 yards on the ground from Marshall Cooper. Cole scored on an 80-yard run, and quarterback Preston Wilkey had two rushing scores.

Wilkey's second touchdown came in the overtime period after a Livingston score, but Hixson's playoff run ended after the ensuing extra-point attempt sailed wide right.
