Atlanta man sentenced to life in revenge shooting death of a 17-year-old boy

ATLANTA - A man has been sentenced to life plus five years in prison in the shooting death of a 17-year-old boy.

Fulton County prosecutors say 36-year-old Dakota Swann was convicted late last week of murder, felony murder and weapons offenses in the January 2008 shooting.

Prosecutors say 17-year-old Shannon Williams and one of his friends were walking along a street near Turner Field when Swann and two accomplices approached them. Prosecutors say Swann shot Williams in the head and the teen died eight days later. Williams' friend and two other witnesses identified Swann as the shooter.

Investigators say Swann had been shot in his leg in February of 2007 and believed that Williams was the person who shot him, although that claim has never been proven.
