Stephan Jaeger, who played golf at Baylor School and the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, advanced to the final stage of Web.com Tour School. Jaeger finished runner-up Friday with a 12-under-par 276 at Southern Hills Plantation Course in Brooksville, Fla. Former Baylor teammate Jay Vandeventer, who played at Tennessee, did not advance. Former UTC golfer Jonathan Hodge did not advance from the second-stage qualifier at Deerwood Golf Club in Kingwood, Texas.

• Paul Carter, the superintendent at the Bear Trace at Harrison Bay, has been awarded the 2015 Presidents Award for Environmental Stewardship from the Golf Course Superintents Association of America. The award was established in 1991 to "recognize an exceptional environmental contribution to the game of golf," according to a release. "Through his impactful environmental stewardship, he demonstrates the full benefits of what golf courses can be for recreation and a healthy environment through professional management," GCSAA president Keith Ihms said.

Running

• Lee University won the men's championship and finished fourth in the women's division of the National Christian College Athletic Association national cross country meet Saturday at Houghton, N.Y. Flames freshmen Seth Eagleson and Harold Smith finished third and fourth individually in the 8-kilometer race at 25:11.9 and 25:14.1, and teammate Tyler Boone joined them as NCCAA All-Americans with a 12th-place finish. Camden Perez and Joseph Crook were 19th and 24th. The Lady Flames' Jessica Childers was fifth in the 5k in 18.19.0, joined as an All-American by Elizabeth Sillcocks in 15th, and Audrey Smith was 21st.

Volleyball

• Ashton Gregory's 17 kills and Jo Wilks' 41 assists led Furman to a 3-0 Southern Conference volleyball victory Saturday night at UTC. Sarah Batterton had 11 kills and Kristy Wieser, Nicole Sumida and Briana Reid had seven each for UTC (13-18, 6-10) in the 26-24, 25-19, 25-22 loss to the Paladins (21-6, 14-2). Anne Bachman had 19 assists and 10 digs and Sumida had eight block assists and one solo block, while Lauren Greenspoon completed Bachmann with 14 assists and Melissa Green had 13 digs.

• Dalton State ended its first volleyball season in the Southern States Athletic Conference with a 3-0 loss to second-seeded Mobile in the league tournament semifinals Saturday at Montgomery, Ala. Anna Metzler had eight kills and 11 digs, Karly Newman had 13 digs, senior Alyne Bianchi had 10 digs and Michala Askew had 19 assists in the 25-21, 25-20, 25-18 loss for the Lady Roadrunners.

Tennis

• UTC women's tennis coach Jeff Clark announced a second signee in the early period for the 2015-16 season: Mckenzie Barco from Jacksonville, Fla. Like previously announced Sydney Patton from South Carolina, Barco is a four-star prospect rated in the top 150 nationally. TennisRecruiting.net has her ranked 31st in Florida and 52nd in the Southeast. She has represented Florida in USTZ Zonals twice and has been part of two top-four National Open 18s doubles finishes. "Coming out of the state of Florida, one of the toughest regions for tennis in the country, Mckenzie has great tennis experience and knows how to compete on the court," Clark said in a UTC release.

Lacrosse

• Lindsay Rufolo was the center back for the Girls Preparatory School soccer team that had 12 shutouts on the way to a 2014 state championship, but it is as a lacrosse midfielder that she plans a college athletic career. She signed a national letter of intent late this past week to play for Davidson. Playing club lacrosse the last two years for Nashville-based TNLAX, she received contact from "several" NCAA Division I and III programs, she said, but didn't decide on one until attending the North Carolina school's camp this past summer. "After staying on campus for three days, I knew that was where I wanted to go to school and the lacrosse program I wanted to be a part of," Rufolo said, praising coach Kim Wayne, the "family" feeling of the team and the fact that Davidson's players were active in other aspects of the college.

Soccer

• Whitworth University of Spokane, Wash., scored in the 84th minute and edged Covenant 1-0 in an NCAA Division III men's soccer tournament game Friday in Atlanta, and that ended the Scots' sterling season at 15-5-2. Whitworth (16-1-3) won 2-0 Saturday against Berry, which upset opening-round host Emory 2-1 in extra time Friday. Covenant had edges of 8-6 in shots and 6-5 in corner kicks.

Basketball

• UTC women's basketball coach Jim Foster will be the guest speaker for the Chattanooga Quarterback Club's noon luncheon meeting Monday at Finley Stadium, and the public is invited. Attendance costs $10 with a meal, $4 without. Foster will make a few remarks and then answer questions.

Softball

• The Lady Moc RBI Club will meet Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at the UTC softball indoor practice facility at Warner Park, and the public is invited. UTC coach Frank Reed will discuss the recent signing class and preview the 2015 season.
