Travis McDonough judgeship nomination announced

The White House is announcing that Travis McDonough, a Chattanooga attorney who presently serves as Mayor Andy Berke's chief of staff, has been nominated to become the new judge of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee.

If confirmed by the Senate, McDonough will occupy the chair of Judge Curtis Collier, who recently took senior status.

According to the White House news release, McDonough worked in the Miller & Martin law firm from 2005 to 2013, where he litigated a wide variety of civil and criminal matters in federal and state courts and served as the head of the firm's litigation department from 2012 to 2013.

He began his legal career as an associate at Miller & Martin from 1997 to 2004. He received his J.D. in 1997 from Vanderbilt University Law School and his B.A. in 1994 from Sewanee: The University of the South.
