UTC singers present Baroque masterworks

UTC's Chattanooga Singers and Chamber Singers will present a concert of Baroque masterworks tonight, Nov. 20, at Second Presbyterian Church, 700 Pine St. Music starts at 7:30 p.m.

The Chattanooga Singers will perform Part 1 of George Frideric Handel's beloved oratorio "Messiah," which tells the Christmas story. Soloists will include Miller Blain, Sydney Sharp, Julie Smith and Meagan Sullivan.

Isaac Hinchman, accompanist for Chattanooga Singers, will play harpsichord, and Merry Lee Wilson, accompanist for Chamber Singers, will play organ.

Following "Messiah," the UTC Chamber Singers will perform Johann Sebastian Bach's motet "Jesu, Meine Freude" ("Jesus, My Joy"). Featured ensemble singers are Julia Luscombe, Laura Wilkerson, Grace Partin, Blaine Tooley and Ryan Hanisco.

Dr. Kevin Ford is the director of both choruses, and Blaine Tooley is the graduate assistant conductor.
