Mandy Barnett comes home to Crossville

Mandy Barnett, a Crossville, Tenn., native described by USA Today as one of the "finest classic country and torch singers" to come out of Nashville, will return home for a holiday concert Friday, Nov. 28, at the Cumberland County Playhouse.

She'll perform songs from her various albums, classic country and pop tunes and Christmas songs, such as "Winter Wonderland," "Jingle Bell Rock" and, fittingly, "I'll Be Home for Christmas."

Barnett performs regularly at the Grand Ole Opry, Grand Ole Opry at the Ryman and clubs including 3rd and Lindsley and Wildhorse Saloon in Nashville, in addition to touring nationally and internationally. In November 2013, she performed with the Nashville Symphony Orchestra for the release of her tribute CD, "I Can't Stop Loving You: The Songs of Don Gibson," which includes harmonies by Alison Krauss on "Blue Blue Day." Earlier this year, Barnett recorded two duets with Ronnie Milsap for his "Summer Number Seventeen" album.

During the course of her career, Barnett has drawn praise from multiple major publications, including Time, Billboard and the Los Angeles Times. Rolling Stone deemed her "I've Got a Right To Cry" the Top Country Album of 1999. Playboy lauded her "preternatural interpretative gifts"; People magazine, her "natural musicality." Her first brush with success came as a teenager when she starred in the stage show "Always ... Patsy Cline" at the Ryman Auditorium.

Barnett will present her holiday concert Saturday, Dec. 6, at the Gem Theatre in Calhoun, Ga., as well.
