Southeastern Conference runners Brandon Lord and Hannah Jumper from Baylor School were the overall winners of the Turkey Trot 8k road race Thursday morning from the Sports Barn East on Lee Highway. Despite the damp chill and wind, the race had 1,050 finishers -- up from 1,022 last year. Lord, who runs now for Georgia, beat a strong field by covering the 4.97 miles in 25 minutes, 1 second. Mike Walker, the 2013 winner, was, second in 26:07 with Daniel Goetz, Bryson Harper and Joseph Goetz third through fifth and masters winner Geno Phillips sixth in 26:51. Vanderbilt's Jumper was 21st overall as the first female in 29:39, with 2013 women's winner Jessica Marlier next and 25th overall in 30:59. Jennifer Evans took the masters prize in 37:39.

• Notre Dame High School wide receiver and defensive back Kareem Orr has been committed to Louisville since the summer but plans to make officials visits elsewhere. The 6-foot, 190-pounder said this week that he'll be back at Louisville for an unofficial visit this weekend but that he plans to take official visits to Arizona State, Washington State, Oklahoma and Indiana.
