NW Georgia, Dalton jobless rates fall in October

The Georgia Department of Labor says that the unemployment rate in Northwest Georgia for October was 7 percent, down from 7.1 percent in September. The rate in October of last year was 7.8 percent.

The rate fell as more people went to work, the department said. The number of employed residents in the region rose by 1,173 to 374,971, up from 373,798 in September.

Also, the metro Dalton unemployment rate for October was 8.8 percent, down from 8.9 percent in September. The rate in October of last year was 9.7 percent.

The rate fell as fewer people were unemployed, according to the department. The number of unemployed residents in the region declined by 124 to 5,002, down from 5,126 in September.
