Get Off The Couch: As RiverRocks ends, trick-or-treaters emerge

BARRY COURTER: Lisa, the weather is cooling off this week, but the music scene appears to be heating up. There is a lot going on.

Track 29 is busy all week with Julian Casablancas + The Voidz there tonight, Amon Amarth with Skeletonwitch and Sabaton there on Tuesday, Keys N Krates with Gladiator and Thugli on Wednesday, and Jimmy Eat World on Thursday.

If Skeletonwitch or Thugli doesn't appeal to you, Cleveland-based guitar master Doyle Dykes is at Lee University on Thursday and the Chattanooga Symphony & Opera will present "Boston Pops Tribute: A Salute to Arthur Fielder and John L. Williams." Michael Chertok will be the guest pianist, and Maestro Bob Bernhardt will conduct and share some memories of guest-conducting in Boston over the years.

LISA DENTON: That's a busy week for music fans. Plus, you can add in Neshawn Calloway at Mountain Arts Community Center on Thursday. Calloway is known for her spot-on Bessie Smith tribute concerts, but this time she'll be doing the songs of Diana Ross, Aretha Franklin, Sade, Gladys Knight and Billie Holiday. She'll even have a band and backup singers, so that should be fun. I

I've always wanted to be a backup singer. I wonder if Neshawn would let me be an honorary Pip on "Midnight Train to Georgia." I've been practicing my "woo-woo" and train-whistle arm gestures.

BARRY: THAT'S what you've been doing. I thought you were practicing picking up truck drivers. I feel some better.

LISA: Randy Steele and Friends will be performing Thursday night at Fireside at Greenway, an Outdoor Chattanooga event where families can bring picnics and blankets and listen to music by a bonfire each Thursday in October. Steele is a captain in the Chattanooga Fire Department and an accomplished five-string banjo player.

And the RiverRocks finale is Saturday at Coolidge Park. There'll be food trucks and music and demonstrations of climbing, slack lining (between the peaks of the Tennessee Aquarium buildings) and another activity I wonder if you've heard about. So here's a riddle for you: What do acrobatics, yoga and dance have in common?

BARRY: They are three things I never do in my living room.

LISA: I suppose that's true, but the answer is acroyoga. I wish we had known beforehand about these demonstrations, so we could have worked up a routine. I guess it's too late for this year. It's gonna take more than a week for me to learn how to lift you.

BARRY: Honestly, when I've tried yoga, it probably looked like I was doing acrobatics and dancing. I'm pretty sure it didn't look like I was doing yoga, unless there is a move called "panting corpse."

LISA: As long as we're talking corpses, what are you dressing as for Halloween?

You know it's not too early to trick-or-treat. You can start your candy collection Friday at the Tennessee Aquarium's AquaScarium party, Friday and Saturday at Boo in the Zoo at Chattanooga Zoo or the Fantasy Maze at the Tennessee Riverpark or Sunday at Chattanooga Market's Haunted Market.

BARRY: They were all out of "Frozen" costumes in my size, so I'm not sure yet. I might just send Facebook messages to the parties I was invited to and go as Mayor Andy Berke.
