MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Freshman Olivia Hoffman scored a goal in the 26th minute, and the Chattanooga Christian soccer team advanced to the Class A/AA state tournament semifinals with a 1-0 victory over fifth-ranked Hume-Fogg Wednesday at the Richard Siegel Soccer Complex.

On the match's only score, Hoffman received a pass from senior Sara Farlett and maneuvered around a couple of defenders before netting a shot for her ninth goal of the season.

"Hume-Fogg was very good," CCS coach Cal Sneller said. "They have a couple of good center midfielders. The field was sloppy and hard to move around, but the CCS ladies adjusted quite well and played very spirited."

He also praised the play of his back four of Roo and Jenna Rogers, Emily Huesman and Bri Biederman, along with senior midfielder Hannah Henry. CCS allowed only five shot attempts on goal for the Lady Blue Knights (17-4), all of which were saved by goalkeeper Avery Boulware.

The Lady Chargers (12-6-4) will play top-ranked Knoxville Catholic (17-5) in today's semifinals at 7:30 EDT.
