The Music Department at Covenant College will present soprano Sarah Shafer in a free recital at 7 p.m. today, Oct. 30, in the campus chapel, 14049 Scenic Highway, Lookout Mountain, Ga. She will perform lieder by Brahms and Schubert, selections from Copland's Emily Dickinson Songs and song cycles by Poulenc ("Engagement for Laughs") and Debussy "Forgotten Songs"). Her father, pianist Tim Shafer, will accompany her. Sarah Shafer recently graduated with degrees in voice and opera from the Curtis Institute of Music, where she performed in more than 20 productions. For more information, call 706-820-1560.
