The Salvation Army will open the doors of its McCallie Avenue shelter in Chattanooga at 6 p.m. Saturday because of expected below-freezing temperatures, a news release states.

"Our goal is to keep people safe and protected from below-freezing temperatures," Capt. Aaron Goldfarb, 614 Corps officer, said in a news release. "We are down to our last few blankets and need assistance from our neighbors."

Donations are being accepted at The Salvation Army, 822 McCallie Ave.

Monetary donations may be made by visiting csarmy.org or calling 1-800-Sal-Army.
