Clyde's on Main is the fifth Chattanooga restaurant that Mike and Taylor Monen own. The restaurant, which includes a patio, is the couple's "first true bar venture," with 25 canned beers and 12 domestic beers on draft, according to a press release. Ping-pong tables, live music and late-night hours are part of the mix, too.
The Monens also own Taco Mamacita, Urban Stack, Community Pie and Milk & Honey.
Art gallery shifts in downtown Chattanooga
For the third time in 16 years, Gallery 1401 is moving.
The popular art gallery, which began in 1998 on Williams Street, is shifting its gallery two blocks down Market Street from its home of the past two years at Warehouse Row into a new location at Main and Market streets.
Sue Markley, owner of Gallery 1401, bought the 3,600-square-foot building at Main and Market "to settle in and add to the excitement surrounding the growth and development of the Southside," she said.
The gallery will open at 6 p.m. Thursday with a grand opening event. The gallery's artists offer a range of original watercolors, oils, drawings, bronze works, encaustic, hand-blown glass and photography.
"Our mission is to introduce our clients to selectively chosen established and emerging artists," says Morgan Turpin, manager of the gallery.
