Commissioner Jim Fields was elected to lead the Hamilton County Commission after eight votes and two breaks.
It was a contentious 30 minutes in the commission chamber today as commissioners voted over whether Greg Beck, Marty Haynes or Fields would lead the body.
Beck was out of the running after the first vote, and Haynes eventually withdrew his nomination after Beck moved that the meeting be recessed until a later date.
Commissioner Chester Bankston was unanimously elected to be the vice chairman.
