Pig walking on I-40 causes wreck

KNOXVILLE - Pigs on the road - real pigs, not the metaphorical type - caused at least one chain reaction non-injury crash Tuesday afternoon on Interstate 40 in West Knoxville, officials said.

According Knox County E-911 dispatchers, the wreck occurred about 2:35 p.m., when an adult pig that apparently fell out of a truck was seen walking across the lanes of I-40 at the West Hills exit. One vehicle apparently stopped for the pig, setting off a chain reaction collision involving several vehicles, officials said.

The adult pig apparently then was stuck by one of the vehicles in the wreck, dispatchers said.
