Former Shenandoah University assistant coach David Jenkins is the new head baseball coach at Sewanee, athletic director Mark Webb announced Tuesday. Jenkins was a four-year starter and three-time all-conference player at Shenandoah. In his six years assisting Kevin Anderson, for whom he played in high school as well as college, the Hornets went 204-63 and made five NCAA Division III tournaments with two trips to the national championships in Appleton, Wis. "He has matured into an excellent baseball coach, and I know he is going to do a great job with that program," Anderson said on the Shenandoah website. "Coach Jenkins is ideally qualified to serve as Sewanee's next head baseball coach," Webb said in Sewanee's release. Jenkins called his new job "an amazing opportunity" and said he is "extremely honored and humbled. ... I immediately fell in love with the campus, the people and the tradition."
