A Chatsworth man convicted on two counts of child molestation is going to prison for 15 years.

Superior Court Judge William T. Boyett sentenced 40-year-old Darrel Wayne Abercrombie today, about three months after a jury convicted him. Prosecutors say that two children told their step-mother and grandmother in March 2012 that Abercrombie abused them.

According to a press release from Conasauga Judicial Circuit DIstrict Attorney Bert Poston's office, Abercrombie told his aunt that he became a child molester after he was abused as a boy. In addition to 15 years behind bars, Abercrombie will spend an additional 25 years on probation. He also will not be allowed to contact the victim's family, and he will have to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.

On Wednesday, according to the release Abercrombie became angry during the sentencing hearing. He yelled curse words until Murray County deputies led him away.
