The adoptable animals at Pet Placement Center will benefit from Tails on the River, a fish fry and bluegrass festival set for noon-4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, at Camp Dixie, 2421 Buffalo Lane in Soddy-Daisy.

The fish fry will feature a complete dinner with sides (fries, coleslaw, hushpuppies) and desserts (coconut cake, cobbler).

Local musicians Tin Cup Rattlers, BlueJohn and Joe Ridolfo will provide the soundtrack for the afternoon.

A friendly competition will crown a Corn Hole Champion ($5 entry fee).

Animal adoptions will be available during the event. Other activities for canine companions include a Pooch Pedicure booth for polishing doggy's nails and microchipping services performed by Dr. Alison Gussak. Microchipping and registration in the Home Again database ($20 fee) can give owners peace of mind in case the family pet ever goes missing.

Several vendors will be selling gifts on-site.

All proceeds will go toward the care of dogs and cats at Pet Placement Center. The city's oldest no-kill shelter is sustained through donations and fundraising.

Tickets to Tails on the River are $15 in advance, $20 at the door; free for children 7 and younger. For more information, call 423-877-0738 or visit www.petplacementcenter.com.
