Covenant sweeps Greensboro in soccer

Sophomore Hunter Brock's first collegiate goal gave Covenant College a 2-1 win overtime win Friday in USA South men's soccer against visiting Greensboro College, and the Lady Scots completed a doubleheader sweep with a 2-0 win.

Brock's brother and fellow McCallie School alumnus, Hudson Brock, gave the Scots a 1-0 lead from a Michael Arango assist in the 58th minute, but Greensboro's Shaun Watt netted the tying goal with 13.8 seconds left in regulation time. Noah Wiersema assisted on the winning shot for Covenant (4-2-1, 1-0), dropping the Pride to 2-4, 0-1.

Christy Barton and Anna Porch scored unassisted goals for the Lady Scots (3-4, 1-0), who had a 14-12 edge in shots. It was the sixth goal of the season for Porch, the first in college for freshman Barton.

* Tennessee Wesleyan 1, Lee 0 (OT): At Cleveland, Nduka Kemjika's penalty kick 2:25 into extra time gave the Bulldogs the victory. Lee (3-2-1) outshot TWC (2-2-1) 14-11, but shots on goal were even at 5-5.

* Sewanee 2, Huntingdon 1 (OT): At Montgomery, Ala., the Tigers pulled out the win on a Solly Thomas goal in the 97th minute. He assisted Reed Dowdy on Sewanee's first score late in the first half.

* UAB (w) 7, UTC 0: At Birmingham, Johanna Liney had two goals, including the first, and an assist as the Blazers dropped the visiting Mocs to 1-7. Hannah Dunn made seven saves for UTC, which was outshot 33-4 and outcornered 7-1. Rachel Green, Kasey Johnson and Paige Hanks each had a goal and an assist and Sarah Morris and Sharon Osterbind also scored for UAB (3-5).
