University of Tennessee at Chattanooga senior golfer Agathe Sauzon shot a first-round 69 Friday in the Mason Rudolph Championship hosted by Vanderbilt at Franklin, Tenn., and is tied for second place individually. The Mocs totaled 291 and are third, six shots behind LSU and three behind Vanderbilt in the 14-team field. Mississippi State and Alabama are at 292 and 294. UTC's Emily McLennan is tied for ninth at 1-under-par 71, and Isabella Loza shares 16th at 73. Sarah Dolmovich and Megan Woods shot 78 and 79.

Volleyball

• The UTC volleyball team improved its record to 6-7 with its fifth win in six matches, a 3-0 defeat of Stetson on Friday in UTC's Scenic City Showdown presented by Hampton Inn & Suites. Allie Davenport had nine kills and three aces and Anne Bachmann and Lauren Greenspoon had 18 and 13 assists in the 25-15, 25-20, 25-18 triumph, and Catherine Chason and Kristy Wieser made 12 digs apiece for the Mocs. Shelby Connors and McKenna Foster had nine and eight kills for Stetson (5-5), and Kayla Weller had 26 assists. UT-Martin won 3-1 over South Carolina State in the first match of the tournament, which continues today.

• Former Sale Creek High School star Erin Hill had 15 kills, 19 assists, three aces and nine digs as Lee University won 3-1 (25-15, 27-25, 20-25, 25-20) in Gulf South Conference volleyball Friday night at Mississippi College. Lauren Williams added 11 kills and Haley Foote had 21 assists for Lee (2-3, 2-2), which got 15 and 13 digs from Sarah Davis and Stephanie Hernandez.

• The Tennessee Temple volleyball team won 3-0 Friday at Hiwassee. Kiara Govan had 28 assists and 10 digs and Shatoya Medford had eight kills and 11 digs in the 25-5, 25-19, 25-8 win. Also for Temple (8-8), Naomi Posada had 19 digs and served six aces.

• Bryan College and Tennessee Wesleyan each won 3-1 in Appalachian Athletic Conference volleyball Friday evening. Bryan's victory at Milligan improved the Lady Lions to 7-3 overall and 2-0 in the league. Wesleyan (3-7, 1-1) won at home in Athens against Point.

• Kelsey Handel had nine kills in Maryville College's 3-0 volleyball win Friday at USA South foe Covenant. Schuyler Moore had 14 assists and matched Chelsea VanDyk's nine kills for Covenant (9-5, 0-1), while Stephanie Kirkpatrick had 13 assists and Chloe Carlson and Ginny Moore were credited with 15 and 13 digs. Maryville is 8-5, 1-0.

• Loyola (La.) edged Dalton State 3-2 in Southern States volleyball Friday night, but Michala Askew had 37 assists in defeat while Karly Newman had 28 digs and Savannah Nelson, Anna Metzler, Alyne Bianchi and Kianna Delaney had 13 kills apiece for DSC (5-4, 1-3).

• Rachel Harper from Boyd-Buchanan had 12 kills, four more than anyone else in the match, and Kristen Pickett from Cleveland High had 33 assists as the Carson-Newman volleyball team improved to 6-3 with a 3-0 road win Friday against Queens of Charlotte.

• Payton Tipton from Cleveland had 16 digs in King University's 3-1 Conference Carolinas volleyball loss Friday to previously winless Limestone.

Tennis

• The UTC women's tennis team won six of seven singles matches and three of five in doubles Friday as the USC Upstate Fall Classic got under way in Spartanburg, S.C. Three Mocs advanced in the top green draw: junior Kayla Jones with a bye as the No. 1 seed, freshman Samantha Caswell with a 6-0, 6-0 win over UNC Asheville's Carolina Sherrer and sophomore Rachele Gazzola with a 6-3, 6-4 defeat of Wofford's Kalli Karas. UTC's Kaylene Chadwell is the No. 2 seed in the white draw and won 6-1, 6-0 over Presbyterian's Sara McBride, and junior Alison Storie waylaid fourth-seeded Lauren Reid of Wofford 6-1, 6-0, but junior Katie Polk lost 6-1, 6-4 to third seed Ana Gerbasi of East Tennessee State. In the black draw, UTC senior Claire Mulyadi won 6-3, 3-6, 6-1 over third-seeded Catherine Martin of Wofford and fourth-seeded Kelsey Coots of UTC won 6-1, 6-1 over UNCA's Amalie Davidson. Jones and Caswell are the green top seeds in doubles and edged an ETSU duo 8-7, while Polk and Gazzola won and then lost. Coots and Chadwell won 8-0 as the fourth-seeded tandem in the white bracket.
