A man robbed a TJ Maxx clothing store on West Walnut Avenue this afternoon around 3 p.m., according to a news release from the Dalton Police Department.A man robbed a TJ Maxx clothing store on West Walnut Avenue this afternoon around 3 p.m., according to a news release from the Dalton Police Department.
The suspect punched a clerk in the face and then proceeded to go through the cash registers. He fled the store on foot with an undetermined amount of cash, the release said.
A witness told officers the suspect ran into the woods behind the Steak and Shake on Walnut Avenue. Responding officers swarmed the area, but have not located the suspect, according to the release.
A customer took a picture of the suspect with their cell phone. The suspect is described as being a black male who was wearing a dark flowered shirt and blue basketball shorts, according to the release.
