Lynda Wimberly from Brentwood maintained her four-stroke lead in the Tennessee Women's Senior Amateur golf tournament with a second-round 77 Tuesday at Old Hickory Country Club. Monice Hostettler of Nashville is second at 155 after a 75, and nine-time champion Maggie Scott of Charleston and 2012 winner Jean Kraft of Crossville are tied for fourth at 159 with Niota's Margot Oliver at 160 and Cleveland's Linda Mullins and Fairfield Glade's Chris Kencitzski tied for eighth at 164. The field was divided into six flights for today's final round.

Soccer

• The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's soccer team hosts winless Alabama A&M tonight at 7 at Finley Stadium, and admission is free. UTC is 1-7 and the Bulldogs are 0-8 but almost beat UNC Asheville on Sunday, losing 3-2 in overtime after taking a 2-1 lead with less than a minute left in regulation. Having won 2-1 in 2011 in the programs' last meeting, the Mocs have a 3-2 series edge starting in 2002.

• Covenant College got an early goal from Joel Friesen and a late one from Ian Meredith in defeating Berry College 2-0 in NCAA Division III men's soccer Tuesday on Lookout Mountain. Friesen scored off a corner kick nine minutes in for the Scots (6-2-1), who had a 15-10 edge in shots taken. The Covenant women tied 0-0 at Birmingham-Southern.

• Tennessee Wesleyan lost 1-0 in the women's game but won 3-2 in the men's in an Appalachian Athletic Conference soccer doubleheader Tuesday at Point University. TWC goalkeeper Bogachan Akyildiz was the AAC men's defensive player of the week for the shutout against Lee. His team now is 3-2-1, 1-0 in the league; the Lady Bulldogs are 3-4-1, 0-1.

• Paris Bentley scored two goals and assisted on the other two as the Tennessee Temple women's soccer team won 4-3 Tuesday at Oakwood University in Huntsville, Ala. It was the first victory after six official losses this season for the Lady Crusaders and the first as a head coach for Sam Mahtani, who was brought in after the season began. Shelby Cornelius and Deisy Najarro also scored for Temple, which trailed 1-0 at halftime but took a 4-1 lead.

• Jack Fairbrother and Tad Whitaker scored the goals and Mario Paiva and Keegan Wilkinson had assists as the Tennessee Temple men's soccer team won 2-0 at Oakwood. The Crusaders are 3-4.

Volleyball

• Lee University edged West Georgia 3-2 in Gulf South volleyball Tuesday, with Patty Orozco and Latrice Johnson downing 15 kills apiece and Erin Hill combining 11 kills with 15 assists and five aces. Haley Foote had 25 assists and Lauren Williams added nine kills in the 25-22, 25-18, 17-25, 23-25, 15-9 triumph for the Lady Flames (3-4, 3-3), and Johnson and Sarah Davis each had 10 digs.

• The first-place Bryan College volleyball team improved to 5-0 in the AAC and 10-3 overall with a 3-1 win Tuesday night at Union, Ky., and Reinhardt (6-5, 2-1) beat visiting Tennessee Wesleyan (4-8, 2-2) 3-0. TWC senior Hayli Raines from Soddy-Daisy was the AAC player of the week after totaling 35 kills and 41 digs in a 2-1 week for the Lady Bulldogs. Their match Tuesday was 25-21, 25-18, 25-16 for Reinhardt; Bryan won 25-21, 25-21, 21-25, 25-21.

• Kiara Govan had 24 assists and 12 digs and Shatoya Medford had 21 digs and eight solo blocks as Tennessee Temple won 3-1 in volleyball Tuesday at Talladega College. Also for the Lady Crusaders (10-8), Victoria Smith had 11 kills and Naomi Posada and Lydia Vick each had 14 digs, Posada with eight kills.

• Carson-Newman senior outside hitter Rachel Harper from Chattanooga and Boyd-Buchanan School was named South Atlantic Conference volleyball player of the week for the second time this season after compiling a .434 attack percentage with 4.44 kills per set in three 3-0 sweeps. She also had 22 digs in the three wins. She leads the SAC in kills per set and and needs only 17 to reach 1,000 for her career after adding 14 plus 15 digs and five block assists in Tuesday's 3-1 win over Mars Hill. Kristen Pickett from Cleveland High had 36 assists, 11 digs and three aces.
