Chattanooga-based Signix, which offers secure digital signature services to businesses and other entities, is expanding its footprint downtown as it shifts the bulk of its sales force to Warehouse Row.

Pem Guerry, the company's executive vice president, said about 40 people will move from Signix' corporate headquarters on Carter Street to the Market Street office and retail complex.

"We've grown rapidly," Guerry said about the need for more space, adding that it will maintain its Carter Street offices.

He said the company's e-signature volume has jumped exponentially as Signix has tapped into the real estate and health care sectors.

Signix was involved in the closing of a half-trillion dollars in transactions last year.

"Real estate is tremendous for us," he said.

Guerry wouldn't say how much space the company is leasing at Warehouse Row, nor how many employees work for the business, for competitive reasons.

"We've got people spread around the country," he said.

About four years ago, Signix finalized a deal with zipLogix, a big provider of electronic forms for the real estate industry. Guerry predicted then that revenues would rise six to eight times in the year following the deal.

At that time, Signix had five employees in Chattanooga and 20 companywide.

Signix joins more than a dozen businesses with offices in the Row now.

Michael Phillips, president of Warehouse Row owner Jamestown LP, said the business part of the complex is now 83 percent leased.

Several of the businesses are tech companies, and Phillips said the Row's industrial loft space in its century-old buildings fits such ventures.

Phillips said the addition of Signix along with five new retailers and restaurants has "cemented the property as a hub of corporate and social activity downtown."

Signix started up in Chattanooga about 15 years ago. It provides secure online signatures along with storage services through companies' web browsers

In addition to real estate and health care, the company also services insurance, financial, education and government entities.

Other key office tenants at Warehouse Row include Coyote Logistics, which has 45,000 square feet in the mixed-use development. Formerly known as Access America Transport, it's the Row's largest office tenant.

Chattanooga-based Propex Global, a synthetic fiber manufacturer, also leases 30,000 square feet in the center and shifted its headquarters to the site.
