Area Girls Tennis

Player: Sadie Shackelford

Although the season didn't end the way she wanted, Shackelford still had an impressive 2010 for St. Andrew's-Sewanee. The sophomore won the Division II-A East/Middle Region tournament but was denied her bid to become a threetime Division II-A state champion when she fell to King's Academy junior Christine Gwodag in the final. She also led the Lady Mountain Lions to the team state finals, where they lost to Knoxville Webb.

Coach: Lynn Davis

Third-year Calhoun coach Davis guided her team to the Georgia Class AA quarterfinals, where they lost to eventual state champion Blessed Trinity. The Lady Jackets finished 17-1 for the season. "Overall our season was good," said Davis, who credited assistant Robin Proffitt for excellent help. "The best part is that in our top seven we have no seniors and a strong freshman class coming in, so the future looks promising for us as well."
