The Baylor junior won seven of the eight races in which he competed during the 2011 season, the only exception being a second-place finish in the Division II-AA state meet. He then capped off a great season by winning the juniors race in the Foot Locker South Regional meet with a personal-best time of 16 minutes. "Simon's just the kind of kid that all coaches want at their school," Baylor coach Jan Gautier said. "He wants to improve, he wants to learn, and he's been able to apply that to his racing. He's also an honors student and has a great GPA. He does what you want and then some, but he's very humble, very motivated and gives 100 percent. He's a dream for any coach to have."

KIRSTEN LEGACKIRSTEN LEGAC
In her third season at East Hamilton, Legac directed the Hurricanes to the Region 3-A/AA championship. They set their sights in the summer months on advancing to the state tournament, and they not only made the 24-team field but ultimately finished fifth. Junior Nick McCormick finished second individually in the A/AA state race. "As we got deeper into the season, we knew it would be tight," Legac said. "I'm pleased with our results this season. The guys just showed true grit, and they were a super tough, tight little group of kids. They bought into what we were trying to teach, and this season ended up becoming one good ride."
